Radio-amateur communications

What is the radio-amateur service?

Amateur radio service is a type of radio communication (service) for self-education, mutual communication and technical research performed by radio amateurs (duly authorized persons who are involved in radio equipment operation and who do not have a material interest in operation of the radio communication service). An amateur radio operator is a natural person who has passed the amateur radio examination at "Electronic Communications Office of Latvia" and received an amateur radio examination certificate. The Latvian Radio Amateur League (LRAL) unites Latvian radio amateurs and organizes their activities in accordance with the goals of the IARU (International Amateur Radio Union).
