Development of experimental quantum communication infrastructure in Latvia

The implementation of the project "Development of experimental quantum communication infrastructure in Latvia" (Project name in English "Development of experimental quantum communication infrastructure in Latvia", Project number: 101091559, Project acronym: LATQN Call: DIGITAL-2021-QCI-01) continues.

From 01.10.2023 to 29.12.2023, the following activities have been carried out:

  • Work has begun on a work package related to integration of QKD into communication networks and development of government data processing applications, which has resulted in the development of functional requirements and software architecture;
  • Work has begun on the work package relating to use case – secure data transmission for healthcare sector data, which has resulted in the development of identification of specific requirements and definition of test scenarios aswell as review of requirements for healthcare sector data secure transmission environment and parameters;
  • Monitoring and performance report of the deployed QKD infrastructure (Public) is prepared,
  • Test report of all prototype nodes fibre feasibility is prepared;
  • The amendments to the Grant agreement, which primarily include up-to-date information on personnel and equipment, have been finalized an submitted to the Portal, and which are expected to be approved by the European Commission in January 2024;
  • The process of preparing and announcing procurements for the purchase of quantum equipment is completed, as a result of which a part of the Partners has already received equipment, but full delivery of all  equipment is planned for the 1st quarter of 2024;
  • The 1st scientific publication out of 3 planned is prepared;
  • 4th  news article is prepared and posted on the project’s website;
  • In accordance with the Project's publicity and dissemination plan, a public event was organized and conducted, which introduced the general public with the Project and quantum technologies in general;
  • Project Monitoring Board (UP) 2nd regular meeting was held.

Total eligible project costs: EUR 8 061 380,00. The planned maximum grant amount from the European Commission is EUR 4 030 690.00 or 50% of the total eligible costs of the project.The term of implementation of the Project is 30 months from 01.01.2023 to 30.06.2025.
